Finally finished it!!!
Started on the bus ride from home at 7 in the morning. Finished it at 7 in the evening on the eve of my Comm. Skills paper...
Didn't understand what all the hype was about, though will say it's a sweet and memorable kind of a story. I found some characters really intriguing: Atticus, Boo Radley, Tom Robinson.

I was excited to finally read the famous To Kill a Mockingbird. I saw the play at a local high school and I liked it. What bothers me is the message of do not discriminate against people because of their color or because they are different hasn't been really "caught." Everyone says they love this book - yet how many practice the message of the book? If everyone did then we wouldn't have racism and we would be much more accepting of people that are different.

This is one of those books that is so good it almost hurts. Your heart will ache with beauty. I read this as a teenager, and now again as a middle-aged adult with three children. I loved it just as much the second time around.
