Being slightly squeamish about the world of creepy crawlies I was surprised to find myself immediately hooked and drawn into the zany insect world where good beetles battle bad ones and Darkus sets out to solve the mystery of his missing father. The characters are larger than life and wonderfully bonkers. Humphrey and pickers are a modern day Laurel & Hardy and the slapstick in their dialogue was brilliantly crafted. I now want to read the rest of the trilogy.
