True (New Species, #11) in My Vampire Book Obsession

Medical Technician Jeanie Shiver works for an offshoot of Mercile but has a reputation among the New Species as treating them with a modicum of respect, dignity and kindness. When the facility she works at is raided, she protects the New Species as best she can but despite her protests Jeannie is determined to be an enemy by the human NSO rescue team and treated accordingly. True, having met Jeanie during his time at a different facility still has questions about some of the actions she took at the time of his captivity and is looking for answers. When the human NSO rescue team decide to send Jeanie to the prison for Mercile captives, True leads the New Species to protect Jeanie and help her prove her version of the truth.

For this reader, this installment brought things back to the New Species universe I've come to know and love. I didn't have the issues with Jeanie that I did with the doctors in Obsidian & Moon, because Jeanie owned both her actions and her feelings. There was a lot that appealed to me in this fast-flowing read starting with the bluntness and literal-ness of the New Species conversations bringing smiles to my face and the interesting secondary characters practically begging for their own star turns. The mystery in trying to unravel Jeannie's story lent some suspense and the workings of both the Human NSO rescue team and the prison are explored a bit. (There was also a throwaway relationship with a New Species female and a human male that explained some things, but I would like to both know more and have a full length novel on that mating as well as a New Species to New Species mating where she is not a Gift female.) The dispute with the rescue officers and the prison offered good character moments for both the humans and the New Species. Overall for me this was a very pleasant read and left me anxious for the next installment.

He’s the reason for her mission in life – She’s the human who touched his heart – Together they’ll have to fight everyone to keep each other safe in this spectacular paranormal romance.

Jeanie was caught with the enemy and everyone wants to make her pay but all she wanted to do was free others like True – the man she loves and the reader can’t help but get drawn into this story as True struggles to keep her safe and prove she’s not the monster they think she is. True is the 11th book in the New Species Series. It was Super hot, had more of a plot in this one, and we get a look at Darkness who is the next one is the series (which is really good because I really didn't know who True was).

Not my favorite of the series, but still a wonderful read. I like my NS a bit more feral and aggressive. True was a bit more like a human than new species. Jeanie was an awesome heroine....and the beginning of this story was so moving. I could feel the fear as Jeanie was accused and wrongly condemned. But we knew that the bond between she and True would mean they would find a way to absolve her of her alleged crime. I just LOVE New Species stories.

1st read December 20, 2013- I enjoyed this one as I always do the New Species but the ending I felt was abrupt and the timeline too short to get a feel for how they progress. The main part of this story, excluding the prologue, happens in a 3 day period. I just wanted more. A solid 4 stars from me.

I am so in love with these characters it is unreal. The same emotions go through all of her male characters betrayal. It is like they are unable to see the situation for what it is. These people are cruel and twisted yet these new species believe them like what they say is truth. I am like REALLY!!

Overall I enjoyed the story and glad they finally caught that SOB.

I will admit that when I first started reading the New Species series I had a problem with it. It wasn’t that the stories weren’t good, but I thought they too closely resembled the Breeds series.
