What Members Thought

What a read. I was pleased to note that this story was nonformulaic which in my opinion made it awesomely good. The main characters were so likeable and multidimensional which was refreshing. This read has some aspects that may be difficult to digest. I felt challenged to read, acquire information about how the characters ended up in the situations they were in and then decide how I felt. But most importantly, I was forced to think about and process how Laura, Clo, Susan, and Mrs. Hamilton have

Oh my. What a treat! Not quite unexpected, since everyone is raving, but still. I've put reading this off again and again because often, when a lot of people rave about a book, I'm especially disappointed when it is a) badly written or b) I just can't connect to it for whatever reason.
No worries here. Really well written and not stepping into numerous pitfalls your regular lesfic would have stepped into. That in itself makes me so, so very happy.

Even though I disliked Pennance, I was intrigued enough by the concept that I decided to read this book (does that make me masochistic or just stupid?). Unfortunately, the prose style disagreed with me and I found it difficult to engage with the book when having to read sentences like these:
"She held Kerry's behind as if it was infected, her shoulders rising in panic."
"Her jumper was filled with two large breasts and it was impossible not to look down between them where they squeezed together."

This is the second book that I have read written by Clare Ashton and I was not disappointed.
This story which is really two possible three stories that are interrelated, are an amazing example of how people’s lives intersect and the far reaching ripple effect actions and decisions can have. The main characters are Clo, Laura and Susan. I found Laura and Susan’s stories interesting primarily in how it related to Clo. This story is marvelous. I love the way the author creates the intrigue surrounding the characters, it marvelous! Very well done. The characters are interesting, which makes it easy for you to become interested in them. I know that should be case all the time, but sometimes it really isn't. This book is character and story driven.
A very good read.
