I liked the idea of this story but the pacing was very strange. Two climactic revelations happen in the middle of the book and from there to the end it’s mainly falling action. I appreciated the research into female pilots and spies during World War II but I felt that too much time was spent on where the narrator got ink and paper to write things down. I can suspend my disbelief about a captive’s ability to write her own memoir, but the more my attention is drawn to it, the less I buy it. As oth

I'm really struggling knowing what to say about this book. I didn't love it. I struggled to read it most of the time. I hated how it ended but loved it too. But this book is well written. The only thing anyone who has read Code Name Verity will undoubtedly tell you about Code Name Verity: go into it knowing nothing. It's true, you shouldn't even be reading this review. Code Name Verity is such a wonderful, wonderful book. It's also impossible to describe. It's about friendship, and bravery, and determination, with painfully good writing on top of everything else. I listened to the audio version, which is also so, so well done..
