Entertaining premise ruined by a stonkingly poor final furlong and a central pairing that fell flatter than the average pancake.
For the first two thirds of the novel, the story is fun, the world-building is interesting and the characters are likeable. Then, it takes a turn that literally had me muttering expletives beneath my breath and it all goes horribly wrong.

Even though I'm not a YA I enjoy reading YA books sometimes, their refreshing and easy to to enjoy. The Hungry Games was fun and contained more substance than the average YA novel. It was also a relieve to read about a young heroin rather than the traditional heroic young man saving the helpless young girl.
If you like this type of book you would probably also like James Patterson's series on "Maximum Ride," which also has a strong female lead character. ...more
