*Originial post - Loved this book. Can't wait to talk to Jae about it. Really enjoyed having The whole Hamilton family involved in the story. So well done.
I wasn't sure about how I would respond to a story focused on Amy but the way Jae wrote it, and included Luke and Nora, I don't think it could have been done any better. *
****Reread it and still loved it.****

This sweet, thoughtfful, and often poignant story about people hiding beautiful truths from each other manages to avoid the seemingly inevitable hypersentimentality. one thing I appreciated about the novel is that revelations really hurt the people who feel they had not been trusted before and don't just get over it. The pain of hiding has repercussionos. It is good to see Luke and Nora after almost two decades still together and happy. I will always haave a warm spot in my heart for Jae and her

For those of you that were (like me) left feeling sad and empty in a cold, grey reality upon finishing Backwards to Oregon, the sequel, Hidden Truths, is 17 years later but has all the same color and emotion and depth as BtO. Focusing on their eldest daughter Amy's personal growth, Luke and Nora are still in it a great deal, so fear not. This story is filled with female empowerment and struggles, dangers and opportunities, heart ache and slow burn. And throughout it all is warmth of family.
