4 stars. Beautiful and well written story. I didn’t love it like I thought I would but it was still a very good read. I think my issues with it were that it took so long for me to really get into it and it didn’t always hold my attention. I loved how atmospheric this was and I thought the plotting device of the story being told from Death’s point of view was interesting. Liesel was a wonderful and likable character. This book is stunning in so many ways. The author used such a unique protagonist and descriptions that made me weak in the knees with how painfully realistic they were.

Can not recommend enough.
