Billed as "the next Gone Girl", it actually did share several similarities most notably being a book about absolutely terrible people. It's still a very interesting story told by three different female narrators, though each is bizarrely self aware of their flaws. A great book for fans of psychological thrillers and those who make up names and stories about the strangers they see everyday.

I figured out who did it sooner than I'd have liked. No one is particularly likable. And I agree, it's a Gone Girl type book. Interesting idea, though. I've ridden trains and marveled at how you see everyone's back yards--the not so pretty side.

This was a book about deeply flawed characters that were offered no realistic chance at redemption. I think that if the characters were developed more fully and that they had a chance, even if it was just out of reach, it could have been much more moving and emotional. As it was, all I felt was pity for unredeemable characters, as opposed to empathy. The mystery was also quite predictable, but really, it was not the focus of the book.
