Probably the funniest book I have ever read. An angel and a demon, specifically the angel who guarded the gates of Eden and the demon who gave the apple to Eve, are now in charge of Great Britain. Over the millennia, they have pretty much decided that their lives will be a whole lot simpler if they stop fighting and instead fudge their reports to their respective superiors while getting on with living the good life. This all works fine until the Antichrist is due to be born. In England.

Funny and charming of course, but a bit bewildering even for a Yank who's quite fluent in Britspeak. I would have liked to have seen a few characters trimmed off to tighten up the story. Really, did any of us care about anyone other than Az & Cr? (Okay, and DEATH, a classic Pratchett standby). Some bits also felt surprisingly dated already--I cringed when a character (a child, even!) called Aziraphale a fa***t.

I read this book at least once a year. Absolutely in my top 10 favorite books of all time. It was if the great Gaiman and Pratchett were channeling Douglas Adams.
Funny, sweet and extremely well written. Will most likely re-read this one at some point!
