"Too many notes," to quote Amadeus. Or perhaps it was just me, trying to read this in installments when what it required was a commitment to reading it in just a few sittings. Still, it felt like there were too many narrative threads (this book reminds me of what Banks used to say about his earliest drafts of "Use of Weapons") to keep track of, particularly if one were reading it as I did. His books remain chock-a-block full of wickedly interesting ideas. This one is no exception.
