Last year (2015) saw the release of novels from two well known hard science-fiction authors whom I, for some reason, had never read anything by. The first was Neal Stephenson’s Seveneves, which I read earlier this year with the SciFi and Fantasy Book Club and also gave 5 stars. I love a good benevolent AI narrator. This was a particularly winsome story that made me ugly cry at the conclusion.
No spoilers, but ship's climactic monologue reminded me of my favorite Sagan quote: "For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only though love."

I don't know exactly what I think about this. A wordy and depressing series of events. Too much human stupidity. I found Ship and their evolution to be the most interesting part of the book. The end was not good.
