04/23/2022 Reread - Everything about this book is just as fantastic the second time around! Ken and Savanah in the hide is just one of the most memorable sex scenes in Romantic Suspense. I listened to it this time around and the Lawlor & Ewbank team narration was 5-Star.

Hmm, there were things that I actually really liked, but there were some others that really annoyed me. One of them was the relationship between Ken and Savannah; there was a little too much of the lovey dovey touch with the 'I never felt this way about anybody ever' and then came all the freaking groveling after Ken finds out what Savannah did and she just thinks her world is about to end. And who the hell thinks that a freaking Navy SEAL doesn't know how to defend himself? Duh! The ending was ...more

Troubleshooters Series Book #4

So far my favorite of this series. All the storylines are well done. There are a lot of characters and a lot going on, but it's smooth transitioning between the different story's and doesn't seem jumpy or overdone.
I loved how the WWII story was a book written by one of the characters that the others were reading throughout the book. This author does a great job of pulling me into the story. I can't wait to read more of this series. ...more

This was an improvement over previous novels in the series - the action and the romance were better incorporated into the multiple storylines, but it's still heavy on the romance side with the action just there as spice. This series would be difficult for anyone to drop into, even at this early stage, because there are so many interconnected stories and continuing encounters.

So the *main* romantic action is between Savannah Von Hopf & Read as part of series group read *** 3.5 stars rounded to 4

This was an improvement over previous novels in the series - the action and the romance were better incorporated into the multiple storylines, but it's still heavy on the romance side with the action just there as spice. This series would be difficult for anyone to drop into, even at this early stage, because there are so many interconnected stories and continuing encounters.

So the *main* romantic action is between Savannah Von Hopf & Ken Karmody (aka Wild Card). It is fun, if not entirely realistic. Ken is a bit of a smart aleck, but mostly it's a cover for his heart of gold. Savannah is a socialite with a tough streak a mile long. It makes for decent chemistry & the romance is hot.

The side plots were actually, to my mind, more fun:

- Molly & Jones: This appears to be unfinished and the characters may show up later in another book. I actually liked them together for the most part. With the exception of one scene with Molly (you'll know when you read it), it was different storyline. Molly was older and Jones has a past that has only been scratched at. By the end, there is the feeling that something else is coming for both of them.

- Alyssa & Sam and/or maybe Max(?): So there is - of course - a book on the horizon for Alyssa & Sam, but for right now, Alyssa is considering moving on and there is Max who is also trying to move on from the young woman (in the last book) who he talked through a hostage crisis. All this drama...it's a little much.

- Rose & Hank: The author likes including a WWII romance and this one was fairly transparent (I suspected the big reveal almost from the beginning). Rose is a double agent - sent by the Nazis to spy on the US, but actually spying FOR the US. Hank is an Austrian prince and a suspected Nazi sympathizer. This is told in flashbacks as Rose is Savannah's grandmother and wrote a memoir about her exploits. There was not a huge amount of suspense, but the romance was sweet and nostalgic.

Overall, it was fairly good and the writing keeps you interested enough to continue the series. ...more
