Well written and interesting read despite the upsetting content. Glad the siblings had each other to overcome their impoverished, nomadic upbringing. Ms. Walls’ memoir is brave and admirable. Look forward to the movie.

PopSugar Reading Challenge 2023: A book about a family

Many different feelings about this book. I couldn't believe how selfish two adults could be, putting their needs above their childrens. As a parent I just can't wrap my head around it. I do have to applaud Rex and Mary for the way they approached learning with their children. They made sure that they all new how to read and appreciate math and science. Beautifully written. Reader gets a unique perspective on what it's like to grow up with parents who are mentally ill. Traces family relationships over the lifespan.
