A great read - I listened on audio and was enthralled at this family lineage through the generations - some triumphant, some tragedy, not expressly unique, but when told from the black experience, it enriches us all. History and stories are not forgotten, merely told from the ones in power but there are many truths and never one-sided.

2020 PopSugar Reading Challenge: A book that passes the Bechdel test
I really appreciate each story that was told in Homegoing, however I found that I couldn't form an as big of an emotional attachment to any of the characters as I would have loved. Just when I would start to form that emotion, the chapter would end and the book would move on to the next descendent.
I found it interesting how the descendants of two sisters that were separated by their individual circumstances could lead such diff ...more
