This is the 2nd book I've read in this series - actually, there ARE only 2. It's easy reading...a nice escape on a snowy day. I'm not sure if he's writing for teenagers, but his books are certainly 'adult-worthy'. ...more

The second Flavia DeLuce mystery. She's a precocious 10 year old with a taste for chemistry and the ability to win hearts and pick up information the police can't get near. Love the characters in these books. ...more

I listened to this book on CD. I enjoyed the story, but since there are so many details, it was hard not to let my mind wander. Someone who really likes mysteries might enjoy this more than I did.

I loved The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. This is a great second book in the series - it is written wonderfully and is a fast read. Just what I needed after the last book I read - a serious, non-fiction book. I recommend it highly!

I LOVE Flavia de Luce! She is the funniest, cleverest and quirkiest 11-year old sleuth in fiction (in my humble opinion). I'm a big fan of this series, and I don't even like mysteries for the most part. ...more

Usually not a fan of books with 11 or 12 year old narrators, but enjoyed this.A mild and amusing mystery with an entertaining and imperfect tween narrator
