Despite having an 11-year-old narrator, this novel has several dimensions mystery-lovers will enjoy. The rural England setting resembles cozies, yet the young detective in ways parodies the Miss Marple stereotype.

The 1950 setting also requires some adjustment (though Bradley published it in 2009).

Shelves: mystery, mysteries
excellent mystery! Its an adult fiction novel with the main character, Flavia DeLuce, who is 13 and is a Sherlock Holms type. Her passion is Chemisty and uses chemical analysis to help solve the mysteries. Her two sisters are exceptional also: One is a wonderful Pianist and the other a voracious reader. 1950 time frame in England. Learn so much about chemisty, solving mysteries, classical music and books.
