What Happened to Goodbye is a book by Sarah Dessen. Mclean is a teenager who comes from a split family. She moves with her father extremely often and reinvents herself every time. She makes a clean break every time so she doesn’t feel tied down and get hurt again by people she loves. Her past is a jumble behind her and has never made a difference until now.
The book takes place on the east coast near the ocean. The major conflicts are Mclean finding her true self and Mclean and her mother. They have been on rocky terms since the divorce and it is getting worse. Neither of them wants to lose each other but things are just not the same.
I would give this book five stars because I liked everything about it. I would recommend it to people who like realistic fiction books or who like other Sarah Dessen books. I would suggest it more to girls because it is told from a girl’s point of view.
