Nineteen Minutes is a very mature book by Jodi Picoult. It is about a school shooting that takes place in New Hampshire. It takes you through the lives of people before, during, and after the shooting. It goes through the trial of the shooter and the emotional journey of the entire town. Josie is a survivor of the shooting and plays a huge role in the story all along. She is also the daughter of the judge that is supposed to try the case. The shooting changes everyone’s lives in this small town. People will rip at each other over different views on everything. Everyone is trying to figure out what could have caused this horrific event. After the shooting there are significant increases in security at the school which has everyone wondering. Could this really happen again?
This book takes place in the small town of Sterling, New Hampshire. Conflicts are everywhere people against people, people against themselves, and of course the shooting. No one wants to admit that they have caused any of this conflict but who said it was just one person?
I would give this book five stars it was an amazing book that I really enjoyed. It is a very emotional book and it brings up things you many never have thought about before. There is reference to the Rocori shooting in the book. I would recommend this book to people looking to read a mature book or like very controversial subjects. The book is 455 pages long.
