"Airhead" is about a girl who was a typical teen but got a brain transplant after a terrible accident. Emerson has to learn to deal with living in a teen supermodel's body but having her own brain. Emerson, now Nikki Howard, can't tell anyone what happened. No matter how hard she tries to imply that she's not really Nikki, but only living in her body, her best friend Christopher doesn't realize that it's his old best friend. She also has to solve the mystery of how Nikki died.
In this story, there are a lot of conflicts going on. Emerson has to learn how to function in a different body. Once she can walk and talk and eat, she goes to work in Nikki Howard's body. Because Nikki is a very famous and wealthy model, Emerson has to get to know her team of make-up artists, hairstylists, and her own boyfriend! Emerson also can't tell anyone that her brain has been put into a different body because then everyone would know that Nikki Howard wasn't really Nikki Howard at all! If Emerson told anyone, she would disobey Nikki's contract and her parents could possibly go to jail and be millions of dollars in debt. There is also a mystery behind why Mr. Stark, the owner of the huge company that Nikki models for, wanted Nikki to die. Emerson is left to find that out, but if Mr. Stark knows that she found out, then Emerson could possibly be killed, just like Nikki.
I rate "Airhead" 3 stars because it had a very interesting story line, but it could be kind of confusing. Meg Cabot created a very interesting story line. To think up someone getting a brain transplant is just crazy, but at some points of the book I didn't know what was going on. The story doesn't come out right away and tell you that Emerson had her brain transplanted into Nikki's body, so I was kind of confused. If you continue on in reading the series, "Airhead", "Being Nikki", and "Runaway", the story line gets more in depth and then everything makes sense. I would definitely recommend this book for mystery romantics.
