Onslaught (Star Wars: The New Jedi Order, #2; Dark Tide I) is about the merciless, vicious, highly religious Yuuzhan Vongtrying to please their gods. A species from another galaxy. They are trying to take over the galaxy far far away.
It takes place a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away. The Yuuzhan Vong are an unknown species of an unknown origin who kill any infidel. They use biotechnology unlike any other. They use no metal, no wires, no electricity. From their furniture to their weapons, they are all alive. Their armor cannot be removed, it is living on their body like a parasite. Since the tech is so different the Republic doesn't know how to fight it.
I liked it because it is different than other Star Wars books. Instead of wars or battles between jedi & sith, this is about war between cultures. Anyone interested in Star Wars that wants something different than what you regularly get.
