richly metaphoric: intriguing, imaginative, entertaining
The first two parts of this book captivated me. I loved the way that Maguire fleshed out the land of Oz with all it's various peoples, and although some people may have found it boring, I could hardly put the book down. By contrast, the final part was a bit of a disappointment to me. I understood what Maguire was trying to do, but I felt like a few things were rushed through too much and the emotional impact was lost so that Elphaba's later actions seemed not quite right.
