I think the fact that this was originally a treatment shows. The story just doesn't really have enough teeth on it's own. It's a spaghetti skeleton for the muscular writing of Bradbury, & never really game together. Bits & pieces are great, but on the whole...well, the Care Bear Stare at the end was not to my taste, & kind of shows the flaws of the book. --MK

Confession - I've read this book 3 times now, once in my early twenties, once in my thirties and now, again in my late forties. My son is 15 now and, between us, we could be mirrors of the key protagonists as we wish for time to move differently for each of us.
If this had been published today and not 1963, it'd be hailed as a YA masterpiece, and reading it in 2018, it is still a brilliant depiction of the journey in time that we all make, willing ourselves adults faster, faster and hitting middl ...more
