I rarely give high ratings, but it was a good story. The vast majority of the time, I read the book before seeing the moving. In this case it was reversed, but I'm glad it was. While the movie and book have the same plot and characters, that's about it... The book ended up with decent character development and you could easily call it a love letter about the 80s. Having grown up during that time, it brought back a lot of memories.
