A very different concept of the zombie invasion story; instead of following a group of people as they fight to stay alive it is more of a collection of interviews with survivors giving us snippets of politics, military fighting, civilian response, etc. over multiple countries and cultures. Brooks doesn't leave any detail unconsidered.

The only negatives I can see is that it lacked the possibility to form an emotional attachment with any of the characters since the longest interviews

Not sure why I picked this book as I am not much into zombies. Didn't find the first few chapters very interesting. DNF for now. ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Strange approach but it worked. The patchwork of the story comes through. Wish I had read it before watching the movie. Will now rewatch the movie. Great stuff!

Somehow, although I still insist that it's not "my genre", I seem to have read a whole bunch of zombie apocalypse books in the last year or so. And I think this is my favorite. I really wish I could give this book 4.5 stars, it really deserves them. That missing half start would be lost to the somewhat redundant scenes. It's just half a star, you know, this book is still amazing, something truly unexpected, believe me. Of course, what really does it, is the way it is told. This 'Oral Story' feeling is great. Also, kudos on showing the whole world affected by the plague, not only the almighty nations.

Very well done, sir. I bow to you.

Given the movie coming out (and the stories around it) thought it was time to reread this book.

It was as good as the first time. Nothing like a good zombie story where the [blank] wins/ :)

A reporter looks back at the zombie apocalypse later known as World War Z. This book was an excellent read and I highly recommend it.
