The scope of this is absolutely amazing. I was also amused by the fact that part of it takes place on the elevated portion of I-10 between Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
When I picked this book up I expected a novel, but what I got instead was a series of very short stories, all with the same writing voice. There are no characters to really care about, no sweeping story arches, no evocative descriptions, but I did like the author's breath of thinking. I liked how the short snippets of story were set all around the world, with different circumstances and different solutions, as if the author viewed the zombie problem from every possible angle. So much better than the movie. It hurts that many will approach Brooks' story only through the movie and miss some of the elements that make it so special.
