Unsurprising, I found the book much more complicated and magical than the movie. However, it has been both a long time since I've seen the movie and I do have to admit that the one thing that the movie definitely does better than the book is believably setting up the romance between the two lead characters.

Another beautiful fantasy story by Neil Gaiman. It's wish fulfilment to a degree but witty and enjoyable to read. Also at least to me the ending is better than the movie.
