this was a bit of an eduction for me - I have a copy of the graphic novel but I didn't realise there was also a novel version as well so I thought I would give it a go. First however I will put my hand up and say that I love the film although the two only loosely (very loosely) follow the same storyline.

A sweet fairy tale, with just enough darkness that it isn't saccharine. A bit of romance, a bit of sarcasm, a bit of royal intrigue, and a changeling child who loses his heart to a fallen star. What could be more delightful?

The one stupid thing I did in relation to this book was see the movie first. As such, my mind's full of comparisons between the two, and it's hard to accurately pinpoint my opinion of just the book.
I liked the book, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. For that, I blame the movie. The movie fleshed out minor characters, and gave more detail to certain events, plus the the scene where the hero meets the main villain is infinitely more climactic, opposed to the blink-and-m ...more
