I love Connie Willis, anyway. I love books about WWII. I have a weakness for time travel. So as I sat down to listen to a marvelous audiobook of Blackout, I pretty much figured it would be a five-starrer. And then came Sir Godfrey's moment of glory in the shelter … and it became one of my favorite books.

Great read. The jumps between characters and timelines were confusing, but I think that was intentional. It reflected the chaos that was going on in England during World War II. The book brought the fear, the uncertainty, and the horror to life. Can't wait to read the next one.

Not up to the quality of its predecessor, "The Doomsday Book." Willis has us bouncing around between multiple protagonists stuck at various points in WWII Britain, and she finds it difficult to maintain the momentum. This is the first of two parts, ending on a cliffhanger.
