And with that I think I have read the most important books by UKLG, whom is definitely one of my favorite science fiction authors as well as one of those I have delved into the most both in various reading groups (real and virtual) and through various essays.

Classic, almost ageless sf, with all of the somewhat drawn-out majesty that this implies. The exploration of gender is intertwined with a wonderful story of two people slowly reaching understanding of each other, and a world being approached by envoys from another planet. Powerful stuff.
