This was a quiet, philosophical book, with ideas as relevant today as they were in 1963.

Interesting old-time sci fi. The basic story was interesting--a man of Earth in charge of a way station for the universe and granted virtual immortality to perform his duties. I didn't love it. The narrator pontificated a little too much on the meaning of life and did too much soul-searching for me. The writing was very good, but the story was just too predictable. ...more
