I'm not really into YA novels. The Characters I read and write about are usually adult, but after reading the description, the story sounded interesting so I bought the book. Surprisingly, it lived up to all the hype. It has to be one of the best books I've read so far this year. Suzanne Collins has a gift for story telling, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

A mix of Battle Royale and ancient Greek customs (e.g., children as tributes to their conquering power like Theseus), The Hunger Games is a light and somewhat predictable read. What makes it great is the action! By making every character an archetype or a stereotype (e.g., the fool in love, the pious sister, the brutal warmonger), Collins can get right to the action and explore the motivations at the heart of her world.

Amazing young adult novel set in a dystopian future society, in the US (though you wouldn't know it) after some sort of catastrophe. Totally awesome even when reading as an adult. The world was just so real, so compelling. I have to say, I've read plenty of vivid stories in the past, but this one gave me more dreams than any other series I've ever read.
