I didn't read this book, I inhaled it. The plot moves along at a breathtaking place and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I resisted reading this book for a long while as I had seen the Japanese film "Battle Royale" and thought this would be a cheap imitation. It's not--rather it uses our fascination with so called "reality" shows and amps that up to an extreme. You already know what The Hunger Games is, but I'll add my 2 cents. I enjoyed THG quite a bit, though I couldn't help but feel like it was simply a new take on an old story. Sure, The Running Man was an obvious influence for Ms. Collins but she takes it in enough of a different direction that you quickly forget the similarities.
