It's nice to reread these stories after so many years, and it saddens me that much of today's youth ignores old masters like Howard. It's true that he has some issues by today's standards, such as having a damsel in distress (nearly always white skinned, even if he's in an all-black region) in just about every story, but you have to understand that he wasn't intending to write novels...he was writing for pulp magazines in order to make ends meet.
