Slow in comparison to the others of the Discworld that I have read. But, there is so much world building and great information on the world. So I think this is a great read for that reason. I didn’t love the characters as much this time, but they grew on me towards the end.

I've heard this has been called fantasy's equivalent to Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy. A fair comparison. Both authors are British, both series were started around the same time, 1979 and 1983 respectively, and both wrote witty, biting, funny, often hilarious satire. Colour of Magic is the first in Pratchett's 39 (so far) novel Discworld series. Many people always rave about Terry Pratchett and I have seen some awesome covers of his later work. So, I decided to give the first book a shot. About half way through, I find myself asking the world - Does any of this make sense to anyone else??? I feel like I am bounced back and forth between random characters with strange names, odd objects whose descriptions come much too later on so I spend a few paragraphs lost.
