I usually listen to audiobooks, but I read every single word of The Stand. Do I get some kind reward for sticking with this very slow to start tome? I didn't even skip any pages. Bonus points.
For those of you wondering if you should read it...the answer is yes. I promise it gets better. The character development was surprisingly good. I would say that this book probably deserves 5 stars simply because of the overall epicness of it. The stand is my favourite take on the apocalypse since I started watching The Walking Dead and reading the comics. The Stand is King's approach on the prophesied apocalypse in the Bible's Revelations. The Stand takes a rag tag group of interesting characters as they live through the end of the world and participate in an all out struggle between good and evil.
