People say that The Stand is King's definitive work - the monument to his genius as an author, his Magnum Opus. But I can't help comparing it to his other monster of a book, written sometime later - It, - and find it diminishing in its splendour. Stephen Kings epic novel of good versus evil with biblical scope. In my humble opinion The STAND is Kings best, flat out king of the hill best.
