Que livro espantoso! Brilhante, épico, inteligente e provocador! Este é, de longe, o melhor livro que li este ano e passa a ser um dos meus livros favoritos de sempre.

AH man, KSR at his best. Very enjoyable hard sci-fi / space opera. Ark ship, colonisation, tons of fascinating science, as only KSR can do. Intricate balances of culture, biology, orbital mechanics and human engineering their way out of tight corners. I loved the main character Freya and especially loved the Ship (who made a really cool narrator for bits of it). Aurora is a strange beast. It's a weird mixture of hard and soft science. But it leans more on the hard, and honestly, that's the toughest to write. Because you have to balance accurate science with characters and places that people enjoy reading.

The characters were SO uninteresting. This seems mostly due to the narrator. I won't give anything away, but that choice of narrator almost guarantees a minimum of characterization. It was a gamble that didn't pay off.
