What Members Thought

Recomendo.

This novella was one of the most original science fiction stories I’ve ever read. It blends space travel, alien contact, coming of age, and being a woman of color together into one unforgettable narrative. The audiobook narration was superb. At 2.5 hours, there’s no reason to not give this series a try.

Probably about a 3.5 for me. I liked it, I liked the character of Binti and her connection to home, her bravery. I liked the Meduse. I'm not sure what stopped this from being a full 4-5 stars but I just didn't get that feeling I get when reading a book I give a really good rating too. I'll definitely be reading the entire trilogy though and see if it leaves me feeling differently at the end.

Not what you think.
Wonderful little story about a girl leaving home to attend a "university" on another planet. She is from a Namibian-like tribe on a future-like Earth. Her tribe has incredible mathematical abilities. She doesn't have many friends. Earth is at war with an alien race called "The Meduse." To say more would be to steal wonder form this novella. Worth your time. ...more
