I know many people who say they find them hard to get into and connect with, but typically I find them like snacks that I can just pop in one at a time. This is one of the rare times I have had the experience of not connecting with a group of short stories. While the writing was really solid, if I'm being honest, I really did not relate to most of the characters in this book, and the added supernatural elements were not to my taste.

Scary sexy experimental feminist storytelling. Greedily explicit F/F and M/F. Often quite genius. Occasionally, kind of off the rails, but I do wonder if I'd enjoyed these more if I read them more slowly. Like one or two a week. Because they are intense. As with most short story collections, my connections to this were quite uneven. I LOVED the retelling of the Green Ribbon and then "The Resident" which I had read before.

The SVU mock-up felt like watching a strobe light. My thoughts felt presse ...more

I do not love short stories so much, but some of these I won't forget for a long long time, and now I understood what meant Ursula K. Leguin about this astonishingly fresh author!
