At some point, I'd like to finish this book, but the politics became too tedious for me. The plot seemed to move slowly. Although it introduced some interesting worldbuilding ideas, I would've liked to have seen them better explored. (But note that I haven't read to the end.)

I stopped reading this novel on page 347 of 535.

I loved so much of it. The language was great. The changing genders and varied approaches to marriage were awesome. All the characters were whole and interesting. (Okay, Zezili might have seemed a bit one dimensional, but you were supposed to dislike her as a butchering spousal abuser anyway.)

My god, I love Kameron Hurley. Seriously, the woman can do no wrong in my eyes. I really liked this book. I can't say I immediately loved it the way I immediately loved God's War, but I did really like it and I need to get the next book immediately. And now I'm sad that there will be a lengthy wait until book 3. That being said, this is not an easy book at first to wrap your head around.
