I have the original paperback which is a novelization by Gerrold of the movie that was made of the short story by Longyear. I read it years ago when it first came out & still have it. When a group read came up, I pulled it off the shelves, but decided to read the short story instead. Glad I did.

saw the movie on one of those Friday nights with the bro when I was in Jr High I think - it was more than I bargained for - I remember leaving the room because I was scared at one point - but in the end really excellent. Some of the reviewers have said the movie doesn't compare to the book - it should be expected I suppose, sad but true. Here's to finding this somewhere in bookdom.
