I'm trying to remember when it was that I finally picked this up and decided it was boring and I didn't want to bother with it. Reading it this time around, I'm wishing for a time machine to go back to that me and give myself a knock in the head for stupidity.

have a bunch of pages marked off and hopefully will come back and write a real review, but still firmly in awe of what she did in this book.

Ursula Le Guin is one of my favorite authors. Her Earthsea series is as lovely as any fantasy series ever, and in fact I plan to reread them again now that I've whetted my appetite for Le Guin's gorgeous prose by reading this book. Her writing is as clear and lovely as ever here, but the story itself just wasn't compelling to me.
