What Members Thought
I really enjoyed this young adult dystopian novel. It is refreshing to read about an empowered female protagonist who has survival skills and is able to look out for herself. The male characters, although not as developed as Katniss as yet, come across as regular human beings. Katniss is the one who has to rescue her male counterpart in the games themselves. The romance is not overdone, and is partially played-up for the cameras filming the Hunger Games. The novel also nicely sends up the tropes

Wow! I read some other reviews on this book and my teenage daughter thought I should read is so I did. I couldn't put it down. It was very intense and now I'm moving on to the rest. I thought it would be gruesome, now I'm not calling murder a light subject, however it wasn't nearly as I thought it would be. Very interesting!
