This book helped me get in touch with that primal, survivor side of humanity which cushy civilization has allowed us to abandon. I was pleased with the level of brutality in this dystopian teen fiction. Think the television show Survivor, but the back-stabbing is literal. There is also a meandering love plot intertwined with the overall storyline, which pervades every turning point and determines the fates of the characters in a peculiar way. i will always remember what the lady in the store said to me when i picked up this book "The story line gripped me immediately, it was so intense and it grabbed me by the edge. It is an amazing book, you should read it" well, i did. and i did not regret it at all :D stoked when the movie comes out! Hunger Games is amazing, phenomenal and awesome.

I had avoided reading this book for some time as descriptions and reviews that I had read really hadn't peaked my interest. However, curiosity finally got the better of me and I did enjoy it! Definitely a fresh idea in a genre of books that can get very derivative. Perhaps not on the top shelf of my dystopian book list but definitely worth a read...
