Okay, so I did enjoy this book. The plot was well-paced and I did enjoy the action. I will give it page-turner points.
However, the basis of the plot was too outlandish for a legitimate emotional payoff. I get the whole post-apocalyptic America near-future thing is in now, and I can roll with that. But the idea that America would kill and harvest the organs of 13 year old kids just isn't established in a realistic way. There's not enough world-building for me to ever feel like the book reaches it ...more
