Reading this book was a long slog. The plot was intriguing, the characters well-developed and like I was completely immersed the world that Murakami created. But I also think that Murakami's attempt to create tension and suspense failed. The writing was simply too long-winded, too many detail, to many diversions into the characters inner-selves that lasted too long. In short, he could've made this this novel much tighter.
