I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Atwood. I was quite surprised, as I didn't think I would enjoy a book that dealt with scientific issues in a post-apocolyptic world, but I thought it was extremely clever and well-thought out. With lots of twists and turns to keep it interesting, interspliced with flashbacks to Snowman's past (where he was previously known as Jimmy, which helped build up to the eventual climx of the novel - I would definitely recommend. When the world is saturated with subpar dystopias: leave it to Atwood to breathe some life back into the genre. Every time I pick up something that she has written I get positively awestruck by her way of writing, intellect and ability to create simple, yet deep and captivating stories. I am moving on to the second book in this trilogy – letting it cut to the front of the to-read cue – with high hopes, and it will be interesting to see where she takes Jimmy/Snowman and the Crakers.
