Disturbing and Prophetic
I read this work when first published but had forgotten the power of Roth’s prose and his ability to portray the distinct responses of American Jews to the election of an anti Semitic president
Like today we find many who find fears of Anti Semitism to be exaggerated citing - in the novel - the tranquility and economic boom after Lindy’s election and - in our lives - those that excuse Trump everything because he is for the moment pro Bibi.
