I love the way the book started and got really excited when Parsons was sentenced to be exiled to Mars, but, sadly, he never made it and the rest of the book turned into a big mess. I've never been a huge fan of time traveling stories in the first place and this one was no exception, no matter how much I connect with PKD's writing style. Oh well, I can't love all of his novels.

A doctor from the twentieth century ends up in the future, centuries ahead of his time, for some unknown reason. He discovers that there are no more doctors, because the people find healing abhorrent, and instead employ "euthanors" to euthanize the sick and injured. When a young woman is injured, the doctor cannot ignore his inner conscience, so he heals her and brings her back to life instead of turning her over to the euthanor. Ah! Time traveling and a dystopian future. One of Dick's more conventional sci-fi novels, perhaps because it was one of his earliest works. Not as well developed as later stories, but still a very enjoyable ride.
